My name is Soren Lancaster, I live in Reno, NV and this is my journey in DIY & woodworking. I’m relatively new to DIY & woodworking, having no formal experience or training, save for a woodshop class I took for one semester in 7th grade. Unfortunately, the only thing I retained from that class was an innate ability to make crazy hairdos with my air compressor and a blow gun.

I started down this path by accident, purchasing tools so I could build a patio table for our backyard. I built my first project, a small cedar box garden for my daughter, in 2014. Since then, I have found myself doing a project or two almost every weekend. This blog acts as my journal of sorts, documenting my progress and growth as I learn and (hopefully) improve. With any luck, you can learn from my mistakes and maybe I can provide some inspiration for you to start your own journey as well. I’ll be posting updates of various projects, some I’ve already done, and others as I complete them, along with random musings. Wish me luck and good building!
